About Us!

Hughes Bros. Sharpening is owned and operated by two mates (Will and Louis) who grew up together in their hometown of Mildura in far North-West Victoria. Here’s a photo of us at university in 2018.

Will spent university studying Business and afterwards worked for a few years as a Non-Emergency Patient Transporter for St John Ambulance.

Louis was heading a different direction studying Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University to pursue his passion for all things Sports (Go Carlton).

So how did we end up as Melbourne’s leading knife sharpeners? Great Question.

Both of us always had a passion for business and knew that we wanted to work for ourselves. We tossed up concepts for weeks.

Lawn Mowers? thousands of them.

Cleaners? Not our strength.

Driving past a local sharpeners van, we thought we would look up the industry and had a dig around.

What we found were ancient websites, negative reviews and rude competition. So we thought why not.
